Key insights — The cheapest device from Arizer with a replaceable battery. Hybrid heating, vapor path with a glass mouthpiece, removable 18650 battery with 3350 mAh. Five temperature levels up to 210°C. Lifetime warranty. From 55 in more than 80 shops.

First impression and box contents

The Air SE comes in a simple box with the device, one glass mouthpiece, a silicone case, a Micro-USB cable and a brief manual. No dosing capsule set, no WPA adapter, no second mouthpiece. Arizer includes only the bare essentials and keeps the price low.

Key fact: The Arizer Air SE uses hybrid heating from 55 EUR in 70 shops. Heat-up time: 60 seconds, battery: 3350 mAh. (Vapochecker, 2026).

The first thing you notice is the weight. At 102 grams, the Air SE is among the lightest portable vaporisers on the market. The semi-transparent blue plastic body lets the electronics show through. It is a deliberate design choice that gives the device its own look, even though it feels less premium than the aluminium on the Air MAX.

Build quality and design

The Air SE uses a polymer body instead of metal. This saves both weight and cost. The build quality is solid, with nothing rattling or wobbling. The 18650 battery sits firmly in its compartment and can be removed via the cover on the underside. No tools are needed.

Everything is controlled with two buttons: a long press turns the device on, short presses change the temperature level. Five LED lights show the current level. It is simpler than the OLED display on the Air MAX, but entirely sufficient for beginners. There is nothing to configure, no app, no learning curve.

The glass mouthpiece slides into the top of the device and at the same time serves as both mouthpiece and herb chamber. Arizer’s glass stem system has been tried and tested for more than ten years: you load the material into the stem, insert it and inhale. The entire vapor path is made of glass, which keeps the flavour clean.

Heating and vapor quality

The Air SE uses hybrid heating: a combination of conduction (contact heat from the oven) and convection (hot air during inhalation). The heat-up time is approximately 60 seconds. That is slower than the XMAX V3 Pro at 15 seconds or the V4 Pro at 11 seconds, but it is typical for an Arizer device.

Study: Hazekamp et al. (2006) showed that vaporisers at 170-230°C effectively release THC without harmful combustion by-products. Pulmonary THC absorption was comparable to smoking, but with significantly lower levels of harmful substances. (J Pharm Sci, 2006, DOI: 10.1002/jps.20574).

Once the device is at temperature, it produces clean vapor with pronounced flavour. Lower levels (180-190°C) deliver plenty of terpenes and little visible vapor. From 200°C onwards, the clouds become denser. The upper limit of 210°C is enough for thorough extraction, but it is lower than the 220°C on the more expensive Arizer models.

Flavour is its main strength. The pure glass vapor path delivers one of the cleanest tastes in the budget class. Anyone switching from a conduction vaporiser such as the PAX Mini or Starry 4 will notice the difference immediately. Less roasted aroma, more terpene flavour.

Temperature control

Five levels instead of selecting an exact temperature: 180°C, 185°C, 190°C, 200°C and 210°C. The spacing is finer in the lower range (in 5°C steps) and then jumps to 10°C. In practice, these five levels are enough for most users. Level 2-3 for flavour, level 4-5 for clouds.

The downside: you cannot fine-tune the setting. Devices such as the XMAX V3 Pro allow degree-by-degree adjustment. Anyone whose sweet spot lies between 195°C and 200°C has to live with the nearest level on the Air SE. That is not a problem for beginners. For experienced users who love micro-adjustments, it is a compromise.

Battery and runtime

The included 18650 battery with 3350 mAh provides approximately 60-80 minutes of use per charge. That corresponds to about 6-8 sessions with a 10-minute timer. In practice, it lasts a full day with moderate use.

The real advantage is the replaceable battery. You take out the empty 18650, insert a full one and carry on. For long evenings or trips, you simply buy two or three spare batteries for a few euros. No other budget vaporiser in this price range offers that. The PAX Mini has a permanently built-in battery. The Starry 4 does too.

Pass-through charging also works: you can use the device while it is connected via the Micro-USB cable. A full charge takes about three hours. Micro-USB is outdated in 2026; USB-C would be better. A small point of criticism.

Session experience

A typical session with the Air SE goes like this: you fill the glass mouthpiece, insert it, switch on the device, wait 60 seconds and then inhale slowly and evenly. The draw resistance is medium to high, typical of Arizer glass stems. Fast, strong draws do not work well here. Slow and steady inhalation produces the best vapor.

The 10-minute timer gives you plenty of time for a relaxed session. After 15 minutes of inactivity, the device switches off automatically. Fill the mouthpiece to the brim (not too tightly), start on level 2, work your way up and empty the chamber within 8-10 minutes. The result is evenly brown AVB (Already Vaped Bud).

The higher draw resistance is the biggest downside in everyday use. Anyone who prefers a loose, airy draw should be better off with the XMAX V3 Pro. Anyone used to the Arizer stem style or who has never tried anything else will not be bothered by it.

Compatibility with water adapters

The glass mouthpiece fits directly into 14-mm glass joints. No separate adapter is needed. You insert the mouthpiece into a bong or water pipe and can begin. Water cools the vapor significantly, making the higher temperature levels much more pleasant.

For 18-mm joints you need a reducer, which is available for a few euros. Arizer also offers special bent mouthpieces and WPA adapters as accessories. Water filtration is a real upgrade, especially on levels 4 and 5.

Cleaning and maintenance

Cleaning is simple. You soak the glass mouthpiece in isopropyl alcohol (90% or more), wait 30 minutes and rinse it with warm water. Brush out the chamber in the device with a dry brush. Doing this every 5-10 sessions is enough.

Glass mouthpieces are consumable parts. If dropped on a hard floor, they can crack. Replacement mouthpieces cost a few euros and are available everywhere. Arizer stems fit across all Air models (Air, Air 2, Air SE, Air MAX). A set of stems in different lengths is a sensible first investment.

Air SE in comparison

Where does the Air SE fit among budget vaporisers? Here are the most important differences:

Air SE vs Air MAX: The Air MAX has twice the battery capacity (5000 mAh), 220°C instead of 210°C, an OLED display and USB-C. In return, it costs significantly more and weighs 160 g instead of 102 g. Anyone with extra budget should go for the Air MAX. Anyone looking to save money gets 80% of the performance with the Air SE for a fraction of the price.

Air SE vs XMAX V3 Pro: The V3 Pro heats up in 15 seconds instead of 60, has precise degree-by-degree temperature adjustment and reaches 220°C. In return, it has a smaller battery (2600 mAh), no replaceable battery and a plastic vapor path. Flavour: Air SE wins. Heat-up time and flexibility: V3 Pro.

Air SE vs PAX Mini: The PAX Mini is smaller, more discreet and heats up faster. However, it has a permanently built-in battery, pure conduction and a narrower oven. The Air SE offers better flavour and the advantage of a replaceable battery. Anyone who prioritises discretion will choose the PAX Mini. Anyone who wants flavour and battery life will choose the Air SE.

Who is the Air SE for?

The Air SE is intended for beginners who want Arizer quality at the lowest possible price. It is ideal for users who put flavour above speed, appreciate the convenience of replaceable batteries and are looking for a simple device without an app or display.

It is NOT the best choice for users who need fast heat-up times (XMAX V3 Pro or V4 Pro), want maximum temperature control (DaVinci IQ3) or absolutely prioritise discretion while travelling (PAX Mini).

The Air SE fills an important gap: a vaporiser with a glass vapor path and a replaceable battery for less than 100 euros. In this combination, it has no direct competitor.

Efficiency: Pomahačová et al. (2009) showed that vaporisers at 200-230°C provide a significantly better ratio of cannabinoids to by-products than combustion. (Inhal Toxicol, 2009).

Conclusion

The Arizer Air SE is the best entry into the Arizer world. The glass vapor path delivers one of the cleanest tastes in the budget class. The replaceable battery gives you flexibility that permanently built-in batteries do not offer. A heat-up time of 60 seconds and limited temperature control are real compromises, but appropriate for the price.

Arizer’s lifetime warranty makes the Air SE a long-term investment. You are not just buying a vaporiser, but an ecosystem of accessories with glass mouthpieces, replaceable batteries and water adapters that grows over the years. From 55, it is a strong overall package.
