For the Shift, the most important correction is not a new measurement, but the heating method. The contemporary Grindhouse advertisement states true convection. As the model has been discontinued and the original manufacturer page is no longer online, we clearly distinguish this primary evidence from later retailer and review information.

The old page attributed conduction and convection to the device simultaneously, without a model-specific source. By contrast, the manufacturer advertisement clearly uses “True Convection”. For the catalogue classification, this direct primary evidence takes precedence over later assumptions about heat conduction around the chamber.

VapoChecker continues to list historical catalogue specifications such as battery, temperature range and heat-up time as long as no reliable evidence to the contrary exists. However, they are not presented here as newly verified manufacturer specifications. With pre-owned devices, the condition of the battery and accessories may differ considerably from when the device was new.

Convection devices respond to airflow. Slow, steady draws give the heated air more time to pass through the material. Packing too tightly increases resistance. This general guidance does not replace the original Shift instructions.

Fully inspect and clean a pre-owned device before use. Only work on the chamber, screen and mouthpiece once they have cooled. Damaged batteries, cables or insulation are grounds for rejecting the device; replacement parts may be difficult to obtain because the model has been discontinued.
