Vivant calls the Alternate a hybrid vaporizer combining convection and conduction, while also advertising a "Full Convection Hot Air System" and a heat exchanger. The temperature is set to the exact degree using two buttons; the device heats up automatically. When the LED turns green, it is ready and holds the temperature for one minute, after which the countdown can be restarted.
Vivant does not specify a temperature range or heat-up time on the product page.
The Alternate takes an 18650 battery; Vivant recommends a 30 A cell. The battery is not included, so you will need your own cell. Charging is via Micro-USB with a 1 A charger; the same port is used for firmware updates.
The airflow can be adjusted via a slider, and a backflow preventer is built in. A stealth mode and the buzzer volume are set using button combinations. An automatic shut-off is included.
According to Vivant, the box contains the Alternate, a stainless steel concentrate pad, a brush, a USB cable, a quick-start guide, a grinder attachment, o-rings, and two fine and two coarse screens. Dosing capsules are not included. Vivant sells a water pipe adapter separately.
Alongside the Alternate, Vivant also offers the VLeaF.
Vivant provides a one-year warranty against manufacturing defects.
