Who makes these devices?
Both devices come from Puffco in Los Angeles, one of the best-known makers of electronic concentrate vaporizers. With the Peak, the company shaped the e-rig category, and today its range covers everything from pens to desktop rigs. The Proxy and the Pivot are its two portable concepts. Both are built for concentrates only, but they follow very different ideas.

How do the concepts differ?
The Proxy is a modular system: the base with battery and heater pairs with different glass attachments, from the classic pipe shape to a piece with water filtration. According to Puffco, every Proxy base fits every Proxy glass piece. So you are not just buying a device, you are buying into an ecosystem of glass tops.
The Pivot takes the opposite route: a closed device with a quick-release metal chamber (the “3D Chamber”) and a swivel mechanism that lets you dab at different angles. It needs no glass. With a separately sold adapter with 10 mm and 14 mm joints, it can still be connected to a bong.

How fast are they ready?
Closer than their reputation suggests. Puffco rates the Pivot at about 20 seconds and the Proxy at about 25 seconds. A gap of roughly five seconds barely matters in daily use. The real difference is the prep: with the Pivot you can pre-load a second chamber and twist it in, while the Proxy routine includes fitting and cleaning the glass.
A heat cycle on the Pivot lasts about 45 seconds according to Puffco, and Boost Mode adds 15 seconds. The Proxy draws through glass and gives cooler hits, while the Pivot’s design makes its draw more direct and warmer.
How long does the battery last?
Reviews put the Proxy at about 1680 mAh; Puffco itself publishes no capacity for either device. According to the manufacturer, the Proxy can be used while it charges. Puffco gives no such information for the Pivot. How far a charge goes depends heavily on the heat setting and on Boost for both.
Glass, water and flavor: the Proxy’s edge
Flavor is where the Proxy’s design pays off. The base sits in a glass body, and water filtration attachments cool the vapor further. For low-temp dabs with full terpene flavor, the Proxy is the better choice. On top of that, the Puffco app lets you create your own heat profiles.
The Pivot answers with simplicity: no glass to break, only the chamber to clean, and four fixed heat settings from 260 to 307 °C right on the device. It has no app connection. If you want water cooling, you need the separately sold adapter and your own bong.

The verdict: which one should you buy?
Get the Pivot if you mostly dab on the move, want a device without glass and do not need an app. With its quick-release chamber, four settings on the device and the lower price, it is the practical way into the Puffco world.
Get the Proxy if flavor, cooler hits and your own heat profiles matter more to you than the simplest possible device. The modular concept with glass and water attachments grows with you, but you pay more and have glass to look after.
