How to Use - Getting Started
In short: Fully charge the PAX Four before using it for the first time. Grind the herbs medium-fine, fill the oven to a medium density and hold the button for two seconds to switch it on. Pink LEDs indicate heating, while green LEDs indicate that it is ready for use. The four modes are qualitative programmes - temperatures cannot be selected freely.
1. Charge fully
Connect the PAX Four via USB-C and charge it fully before the first session. When the device is switched on, you can check the battery level by shaking it. PAX specifies up to five sessions or up to 50 minutes of battery life; the actual battery life depends on the mode, drawing behaviour and surroundings.
2. Fill the oven correctly
- Open the oven lid using the tab on the side.
- Grind dry herbs medium-fine.
- Fill the oven to a medium density: neither pack it very tightly nor leave loose gaps.
- Close the lid completely and insert your preferred mouthpiece.
3. Switch on and heat up
Hold the button for approximately two seconds, then release it. The petals glow pink while the device is heating up. Once they glow green, the PAX Four is ready; the official quick-start guide states approximately 55 to 70 seconds. Draw slowly and evenly rather than briefly and forcefully.
4. Select one of the four modes
With the device switched on, briefly press the button to change the mode. Then wait three seconds or shake the device to confirm your selection. The colours represent:
- Purple: little visible vapor and discreet use.
- Green: a longer session and more economical consumption.
- Yellow: balanced flavour and gentle vapor.
- Orange: maximum performance and denser vapor.
PAX does not publish fixed Celsius values for these programmes in the quick-start guide. You should therefore rely on the mode descriptions rather than unofficial temperature charts.
5. Allow to cool and keep clean
After the session, wait at least ten minutes before touching and emptying the oven or material. PAX recommends cleaning approximately every three to five sessions. Brush loose residue out of the cooled oven and clean the mouthpiece and airpath in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions; a clear airpath keeps the draw resistance consistent.
