Key Facts — Old Head Dab-ReadyDesktop · Heating: Conduction · Heat-up: 180s
The OLDHEAD Dab-Ready is a mains-powered desktop heater for 25-mm quartz bangers. It maintains a separately purchased banger at the desired extraction temperature, allowing concentrates to be used without a torch or butane. The device is the heater from the larger Terp-Ready system, but is compared here as a standalone product: the Terp Hammer, glass chamber and quartz banger are not included. The official product page describes the North American 110-volt version.
Electric desktop heater for 25-mm quartz bangers
The Dab-Ready accommodates a straight 25-mm quartz banger and electrically maintains it at the selected extraction temperature. This eliminates the need for an open flame, butane and repeated manual heating. The hot banger is removed from the heater, used with an existing glass rig, cleaned and then returned to the heater. The Dab-Ready itself does not contain a vaporization chamber or water piece; only a separately purchased banger and suitable rig form a complete concentrate setup.
According to OLDHEAD, with the quartz inserted, the system reaches its operating temperature within three minutes of being switched on. If the device is already warm, an inserted banger normally heats up in approximately 90 seconds. The manufacturer recommends switching on the Dab-Ready at the beginning of a session and leaving the banger in the heater. The device is therefore intended for planned sessions rather than a single spontaneous draw from a completely cold start.
Straight 25-mm bucket required
According to the manufacturer, the Dab-Ready is compatible with most quartz bangers whose bucket measures 25 millimeters from top to bottom. Flared or faceted bottoms do not fit into the heater receptacle. A banger is expressly not included, even if one is shown in product images. Buyers must therefore check the external diameter and bottom shape of their existing quartzware in advance. The separately available Terp Hammer expands the same heater for use with dry herbs, but is not part of the standalone Dab-Ready either technically or in terms of price.
110 volts and a safety limit of 680 °F
The listed North American version operates at 110 volts, 60 hertz and 1.5 amperes. It is not designed for direct operation on European 230-volt mains supplies without a suitable power supply. OLDHEAD warns against setting the device above 680 °F or approximately 360 °C. Metal and quartz become extremely hot; the heater must not be touched or left unattended while switched on. The 680 °F figure is an upper safety limit, not an advertised temperature range.
