The setup follows a conventional water pipe; only the charcoal tray goes away. The IMOTO head sits on the tobacco and heats it electrically. Two things leave the session with it: lighting and replacing the coals, and the combustion products you otherwise inhale alongside.
What remains is the tobacco itself. Anyone who knows the taste of a shisha will recognize it — just without the charcoal note that usually rides along. Tobacco-free herbal blends work the same way.
The modes are named after leaf types because those behave differently:
