How to empty the chamber
Hold the chamber upside down over the toothpick, twist gently, done: the residue falls through the three wide openings between the spokes into the container. Your fingers never touch it and nothing lands on the table. Residue comes loose most easily while the chamber is still warm.
Why a wooden pick
Wood loosens packed herb without scratching ceramic, glass or metal chambers, which a metal tool can do. The hub grips the toothpick through a small collet. When the tip wears out, any standard toothpick works as a replacement.
