This glass adapter takes an activated carbon filter of 8 millimetres and drops into the bong with an NS19 joint (18.8 millimetres). The smoke passes the carbon before it reaches the water, which holds back part of the tar and particles that would otherwise end up in the downstem. The tube measures 86 millimetres and is made of clear borosilicate glass; five matching filters are included. Spent filters are pulled out and swapped — how quickly one clogs depends on how much it is used.
